The study looked at how dry and arid the Center-North region of the Brazilian Semi-Arid has become over the years. By using the Aridity Index, researchers found that the area has experienced increased aridity conditions between 1961 and 2015. However, despite these changes, there was no significant shift in the classification of Desertification Tendency during this time period.
