Researchers studied 52 okra genotypes to understand traits affecting fruit yield. They found that traits like yield per plant, number of fruits, and number of seeds per fruit have high variability and heritability. Key factors for high fruit yield include number of fruits per plant and average fruit weight. Traits like plant height and number of branches indirectly affect fruit yield through other factors. This study suggests that focusing on increasing the number of fruits and average fruit weight can help develop high-yielding okra varieties in the future.
