Pipe Bends Could Revolutionize Coal Slurry Transport, Boosting Energy Efficiency
The study looked at how coal-water slurry flows through a pipe bend. They tested different concentrations of coal particles mixed with water and found that the flow behaved differently depending on the concentration. Adding a certain chemical to the mix changed how the slurry flowed. The more coal particles in the mix, the more resistance there was in the pipe bend. They also found that the settling speed of the slurry decreased as more coal particles were added.
