The article introduces a new tool called an agent-based occupancy simulator for building energy modeling. This tool models how people move and use spaces in buildings, which can affect energy use. By grouping similar behaviors together, the simulator simplifies data input. It was tested in a case study and found to accurately represent real-world occupancy patterns, unlike traditional methods. The simulator can help improve building energy performance by considering how occupants behave.
