Climate change may not worsen soil erosion in Brazilian Cerrado.
Land use and climate change can affect runoff and soil erosion in the Brazilian Cerrado biome. Researchers used a model to predict runoff and soil erosion for different land uses and future climate scenarios. They found that land use has a big impact on runoff and soil erosion rates. Climate change may lead to more intense rainfall, but it didn't significantly affect runoff and soil erosion in this study. Each land use had different runoff patterns, but pasture and wooded Cerrado had similar soil erosion rates, suggesting sustainable soil management is important.
