The study gathered 103 estimates of the costs of carbon dioxide emissions from 28 different studies. The results show that the costs vary widely, with some estimates as low as $2 per ton of carbon and others as high as$350 per ton. Studies with lower discount rates or that consider fairness tend to have higher cost estimates. Overall, the most likely cost of carbon dioxide emissions is under $50 per ton.
