Optimal Seedling Age and Storage Boosts Wet Season Rice Yields
The study looked at how the age and storage time of rice seedlings affect their growth and yield. They tested different ages of seedlings and storage durations to see how it impacted parameters like plant height, tiller number, and grain yield. The results showed that younger seedlings (25 days old) with no storage had the best growth and highest yield, while older seedlings (40 days old) with longer storage had the lowest. The variety BRRI dhan52 performed best with a leaf area index of 8.23 and a crop growth rate of 7.33 mg per day per hill. Overall, for optimal growth and yield of wet season rice, it is recommended to use 25-day-old seedlings stored for up to 1 day after uprooting.
