Designing Sustainable Buildings for Comfort and Energy Efficiency: A Game Changer!
Buildings need to be comfortable, energy-efficient, and adaptable for users. A design method focusing on user comfort was used to create an office building in Germany. Factors like daylight access, natural ventilation, and overheating protection were considered in the design process. The goal was to balance energy demand with renewable energy sources, mainly using PV modules on the building. The aesthetics of the building were only considered after addressing comfort and energy efficiency. Students found this design approach helpful in learning how to create sustainable architecture.
