Government urged to increase health budget to improve Nigerian healthcare.
The study looked at what factors influence how much money the government spends on healthcare in Nigeria. They analyzed data from 1990 to 2012 and found that the country's economic growth and the government's focus on healthcare in its budget were linked to higher healthcare spending. However, high unemployment and political instability were associated with lower healthcare spending, although not significantly. The researchers suggest that increasing the government's budget for healthcare to 15% could improve the country's health outcomes and meet international standards.
