Livestock and poultry farming in China are growing rapidly, leading to environmental concerns. Manure from these animals is polluting water and soil, causing problems like eutrophication and soil degradation. Research shows that fattening pigs produce the most pollutants, while beef cattle have the biggest impact on the environment per unit of production. Large-scale industrial farming is better for the environment than small-scale household farming. To protect the environment, regulations, manure treatment, and financial support for treatment and use of manure are recommended.
