Fish Oil Boosts Brain Health, Slows Cognitive Decline in Mice
Feeding mice more omega-3 fats like DHA and EPA didn't change DHA levels in their brains but increased brain EPA levels. The total omega-6 fats in their brains decreased as EPA increased. The types of fats in the blood cells were linked to brain fat changes. Some other fats like oleic, nervonic, arachidic, behenic, and lignoceric acids also increased in the brain. These changes in brain fats when adding more omega-3s need more study to see how they affect thinking and brain diseases.
