Sugarcane growers in Meerut face knowledge gaps hindering crop success.
A study in Meerut district of western Uttar Pradesh looked at the profile and challenges of sugarcane farmers. Most farmers were aged 31-50, had medium-sized land holdings, and used modern farming tools. They mainly got information from radio and TV, but lacked knowledge about new farming practices. The biggest issues were not knowing about improved pest management, having few bio-agent storage units, and outdated government technology.
