The study looked at 30 different types of barley plants to see how they grow in normal and dry conditions. They found that some plants had more tillers, taller height, longer spikes, and higher yield in both conditions. These traits are mostly passed down from parent to offspring. This means that barley plants with these good traits can be grown in different environments and still produce a lot of grain.
