The researchers created a design methodology to identify product characteristics that meet user requirements and preferences. They found that successful products have seven key characteristics, including multi-functionality, advanced technology, and user-friendliness. They also identified 27 product design requirements, with 13 being functional and 14 aesthetic. These requirements contribute to user satisfaction and product success. A case study on mobile smartphones confirmed that these characteristics strongly influence sales performance.
