Consumers' Search for Best Prices Could Leave Them Worse Off
Consumers often check prices before buying things. This study looks at how sellers figure out their costs to set prices. The study shows that even when everyone is smart and fair, prices can still vary. Also, if it's hard for consumers to find prices, the final price might be lower. But sometimes, consumers search too much, which can be bad for them. Surprisingly, if it's easier to find prices, consumers might end up worse off.
