New closed system for ovarian tissue freezing may impact human fertility.
The researchers tested a new method called Rapid-i for freezing and thawing mouse ovaries to preserve fertility. They found that the Rapid-i system was effective in preserving primary follicles in the ovaries, but there was a decrease in secondary follicles. The live-birth rate was lower in the Rapid-i group compared to fresh ovaries, but the number of live pups was similar. Overall, the Rapid-i system shows promise for preserving ovarian tissue and fertility in humans.
