Credit information sharing boosts lending in Kenya, improving access to funds
The study looked at how sharing credit information affects the availability of loans in Kenya. They studied 43 banks over 2008-2012 and found that sharing information about borrowers led to more lending. However, how much information was shared didn't make a big difference. The researchers suggest that the government should make sure all types of lenders use credit reference bureaus and educate them about the benefits of sharing credit information.
