Majority of Bahir Dar City Residents Unsatisfied with Solid Waste Management
Solid waste management in Bahir Dar City, Ethiopia is a big concern. Only 2% of the population gets proper waste services. A study was done with 350 households to see how waste is managed. Most people (78%) think the current waste service is not good enough. Only 22% are happy with it. The city plans to collect waste once a week, but only 29% of households actually get this service. Many households (66.6%) throw away waste illegally. To improve waste management, everyone in the city needs to work together - households, businesses, and organizations.
