Size matters: Two-spotted gobies prefer larger shoals for survival
Shoals of two-spotted gobies in a Swedish fjord varied in size and were made up of fish of different sizes. These groups changed often and didn't stick together for long. Young gobies liked being in bigger groups, while larger ones preferred to hang out with other big fish. The study suggests that shoaling is important for small fish in shallow water, and offers ideas on why these patterns happen.
