The study looked at how phone calls are transferred and reopened at the Swedish Board for Student Support. They analyzed 126 calls in Swedish where transfer was mentioned. The researchers found that call-takers make sure callers know they are being transferred. Some call-takers also make it clear that the call is being reopened, while others do not. When call-takers don't do this, the caller has to establish that the call is being transferred.
