Consumers overpaying for groceries due to lack of price comparison.
The study looked at how prices vary in online grocery stores in Spain and why this happens. They collected data on over 800,000 prices for popular grocery items from different stores. Even after considering differences between stores, prices still varied. They found that most people don't compare prices when shopping online, with over two-thirds of shoppers not checking different stores. Products that are bought more often have lower search costs and lower price differences between stores.
