Households in Nepal willing to pay for better waste management system.
The study looked at why people in Lekhnath, Kaski, Nepal are willing to pay for a better waste management system. They surveyed 217 households and found that having a family member abroad, receiving remittances, and owning a house were the main factors influencing willingness to pay. Most households were not happy with the current waste management situation. On average, people were willing to pay Rs 56.84 per month for a better system. Factors like age, education, income, and family size did not affect willingness to pay. The main disposal methods for waste were burning and dumping in open areas. The study shows that certain factors play a big role in people's willingness to invest in improving waste management in their community.
