Researchers studied beech leaves in a model tree in Poľana from 1993 to 1999. They looked at different characteristics like leaf size, thickness, and chlorophyll levels in different parts of the tree. The results showed that these characteristics varied significantly depending on the tree's crown level. The differences were also seen over the years of the study.
