Desertification in China is a serious issue, especially in Northeast and Northwest regions, leading to lower land productivity and environmental problems. To combat this, monitoring through satellite remote sensing and field work is crucial. In Northeast China, sustainable farming and wind-shelter forests are key, while in Northwest China, water management is vital. Future solutions may include big data for water management, climate-based farming, CO2 storage, and desert geoengineering to reverse desertification in China and other developing countries.
