Earthworms turn toxic distillery waste into nutrient-rich compost, saving environment.
Distillery wastewater was treated using earthworms in a special filter to reduce pollution. The earthworms cleaned the water over 40 hours, changing its pH from acidic to neutral. They also reduced harmful substances like nitrogen, BOD, TDS, TSS, and COD by around 90%. The process produced a nutrient-rich compost as a bonus.
