Landowners' lack of interest in bioenergy crops poses challenge for sustainability
Landowners in Washington State were surveyed to understand their knowledge and interest in growing bioenergy crops, focusing on hybrid poplar. Most landowners are unfamiliar with bioenergy crops, and many are not interested in growing them. Profit is the main factor influencing crop decisions, followed by soil preservation. Interest in growing bioenergy crops is linked to profit, tradition, soil preservation, and making money from bioenergy crops. Educating landowners about bioenergy crops could increase interest in growing them.
