New method accurately predicts grazing intensity in grasslands for better management.
The researchers studied two key grass species in Ramsar meadows to determine the best model for estimating their productivity. They measured the height and weight of the plants before and during flowering in two different areas. By analyzing the data, they found that a sigmoid model provided the most accurate estimates of productivity for both species in different growth stages and locations. This height-weight relationship can be a useful tool for monitoring and managing meadows effectively.
