Modified Intensive Early Stocking Boosts Cow/Calf Production Efficiency on Rangelands
Intensive early stocking (IES) and modified IES (MIES) systems have been successful in increasing animal production and efficiency on rangelands. A study compared traditional continuous stocking with MIES for cow and calf growth. The goal was to see if MIES could help maintain or increase cow numbers on fewer grassland resources. The results showed that MIES improved beef cattle stocking density and could be a beneficial management practice for breeding herds.
