Green Roofs Slash Urban Heat, Boost Air Quality, Transforming City Life
Urban areas with lots of buildings and little vegetation get really hot, causing problems like higher temperatures, heavy rain, and pollution. To cool things down, researchers studied how green roofs can help. They found that green roofs can make the air above them cooler by 4.3°C compared to regular roofs. Green roofs also increase humidity and can absorb pollutants like Sulphur dioxide, Ammonia, Nitrogen dioxide, Ozone, and Carbon monoxide. This means that green roofs can help reduce the Urban Heat Island effect in cities.
