Filterable bacteria from Lake Sanaru in Japan were studied, with 141 isolates passing through a 0.22 μm filter. The majority of these bacteria belonged to Proteobacteria and Bacteroidetes phyla. Among the isolates, 48 were potential new species or genera within these phyla.
