New sunflower hybrids boost yields and quality in coastal Odisha.
A study was done to find the best hybrids and nutrient practices for growing sunflowers in coastal Odisha. Using the right amount of fertilizer and zinc sulfate led to bigger sunflower heads and higher yields of seeds, stalks, and oil. Adding boron also increased the number of seeds and reduced the number of empty seeds. The hybrid 'Super-48' produced the most seeds and oil when given the recommended fertilizer and zinc sulfate. The study tested new hybrids and different nutrient practices to see how they affected sunflower growth.
