New herbicides boost lentil yield in drought-prone areas, revolutionizing farming.
A study was conducted to find the best herbicides for controlling weeds in lentil crops in dry areas of India. They tested different herbicides and found that using pendimethalin followed by quizalofop-ethyl gave the best results, with taller plants, more pods, and higher grain yield. This herbicide combination also reduced weed growth significantly. Another herbicide, imazamox plus imazethapyr, harmed the lentil plants and reduced their growth. Overall, using pendimethalin alone or with quizalofop-ethyl was the most effective way to control weeds and increase lentil yield in dry areas.
