Innovative method turns waste into strong lightweight building materials.
The researchers in the article studied how to make lightweight aggregates from incinerator ash and reservoir sediment. They mixed different ratios of bottom ash and fly ash from two types of incinerators and sintered them at high temperatures. The ash from the fluidized-bed incinerator produced stronger aggregates than the mechanical-bed incinerator. This method is effective for recycling and disposing of incinerator ash.
