Global economic slowdown not hindering poverty reduction efforts, study finds.
The global economy is expected to slow down from 2015 to 2030, but this won't greatly impact global poverty rates. Even with the slowdown, extreme poverty is projected to be 5.2% in 2030, only slightly higher than the previous estimate of 4.8%. Most countries will see poverty rates stay close to what was expected before the economic slowdown. However, some countries may still be affected in the long run. Despite these findings, we are moving further away from the goal of completely eliminating poverty by 2030.
