Dams in Arid Regions Facing Devastating Siltation Crisis
The article discusses how dams in arid regions get filled with mud, causing problems for dam managers. Mud comes from soil erosion in watersheds and riverbank collapse during floods. The most mud comes during autumn floods. The erosion of watersheds in North Africa was compared. Mud is carried to the sea and dams every year. Ways to prevent dams from filling with mud were also discussed.
