Stronger Audit Committees Boost Financial Transparency, Reduce Fraud Risk
This study looked at how the characteristics of audit committees affect how much companies pay for audits and other services. They found that larger audit committees with more independent members tend to need more oversight, leading to higher audit fees, which can mean better quality audits. When audit committees have more expertise, audit fees can be lower since they can oversee financial reporting better themselves. So, having a strong, knowledgeable audit committee appears to be important for companies looking to manage their audit costs effectively while ensuring the quality of their financial reporting.
