Offshore sediments in Yellow Sea harbor diverse ciliate communities than intertidal.
Marine benthic ciliates were studied in the Yellow Sea to see how their communities change from the intertidal zone to offshore areas. Ciliate numbers and diversity decreased with water depth, but were higher offshore. Different ciliate species dominated each habitat, with carnivorous ciliates being common in deeper waters. The type of ciliates present was influenced by factors like water temperature and sediment size.
