Sanitary landfills help prevent environmental contamination by stopping leaks and keeping the inside dry. To improve landfill gas production, a study added a leachate recirculation system at a landfill site. After 34 months, the amount of collected landfill gas increased by 71% compared to the control, showing that recycling leachate can significantly boost gas production.
