A study looked at how different types of pollen affected the quality of 'Soshu' persimmon fruit. They used androecious genotypes (plants with only staminate flowers) as pollen sources. 'Male 8' was found to be the best pollen donor, leading to the highest fruit set and weight. It also improved fruit juice, skin color, firmness, and nutrient content. Overall, 'Soshu' persimmons pollinated with 'Male 8' had better quality and yield compared to other pollen sources. This suggests that 'Male 8' could be a valuable genetic resource for persimmon orchard production.
