To achieve large-scale mitigation, multiple stakeholders must work together. The article shares lessons from systems integrating incentives at different levels, with case studies from places like Brazil, Australia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Countries face technical challenges like aligning measurement systems and avoiding double counting. Overall, the experiences of nested systems can inspire countries developing their own systems for reducing emissions.
