High-protein fish feed boosts yields, but excess slows growth.
The researchers studied how different protein levels in fish feed affect the growth of five types of pond-raised fish. They found that increasing the protein level in the feed led to better growth and higher fish yield, up to a certain point. After reaching a protein level of 28%, adding more protein actually reduced fish growth. The fish fed with 28% protein had the highest yield and the best nitrogen conversion ratio. Overall, higher protein levels in the feed resulted in slower fish growth.
