A well-planned forest road network is crucial for sustainable forest management. In Tuscany, precision forestry was used to analyze forest road networks for two forest ownerships. The goal was to propose effective and environmentally sustainable road construction for low-impact logging. Two different systems were tested to understand technical approaches. The study shows that precision forestry can help forest managers make better decisions for forest road planning, even on a small scale.
