Cows Saved from Infertility: Vitrification Breakthrough Preserves Low-Grade Embryos
Vitrification was tested on low-quality bovine embryos to see if it could help preserve them. The embryos were frozen and vitrified using different methods, and the survival rates were compared. Vitrified embryos had higher survival rates than frozen ones. When vitrified embryos were warmed in a specific solution, all of them survived. The number of cells in vitrified embryos was similar to fresh ones. Six calves were born from vitrified embryos. This shows that vitrification with a specific method can be used to save low-quality bovine embryos.
