Sociological practitioners redefine helping professions with unique sociological focus.
The article examines the characteristics of sociological practitioners by surveying members of the Sociological Practice Association. They looked at role expectations, role enactments, and how practitioners perceive their work compared to social workers, counselors, and psychologists. The data showed that most role expectations were clear, practitioners see their role as different due to their use of sociological theory, and they perceive their work as sociological based on theory rather than psychological methods.
