Grassland-livestock balance in jeopardy: Overgrazing threatens sustainable husbandry development.
The researchers studied farms and ranches in Hulunbuir to improve grassland-livestock balance. They used satellite images and data to assess grassland degradation and productivity. They found that 66.16% of natural grassland was degraded, leading to low grass yield and overgrazing. By converting some cultivated land into artificial grassland, they could meet livestock forage needs and improve sustainability. The proposed Grain-Warp-Feed and Grass-Crop rotation production mode could enhance grassland quality and ecological balance.
