The article examines productivity in EU countries from 1993 to 2015, considering energy consumption and environmental impact. It uses a method to measure technical efficiency and scale inefficiency, and calculates productivity indexes over time. The analysis shows whether productivity gains come from efficiency improvements or technological progress. The results can help European policymakers better understand how technology and efficiency changes affect their environmental and energy policies.
