Sulfur and Calcium Combo Saves Plants from Arsenic Poisoning
Sulfur and calcium were studied to see how they affect the growth and nitrogen metabolism of Indian mustard seedlings under arsenic stress. Arsenic negatively impacted growth and photosynthesis, but sulfur and calcium helped counteract these effects. They improved photosynthesis, protein and carbohydrate levels, and nitrogen metabolism in the seedlings. This shows that sulfur and calcium can protect the seedlings from arsenic by reducing its accumulation and maintaining important plant processes.
