Rural-urban migration widens wealth gap in Ghanaian households.
Rural-urban migration in Ghana affects households differently based on their socio-economic status. Poor households often migrate due to poor living conditions and low education, while better-off households migrate to accumulate wealth. The study found that better-off migrant households have better access to healthcare, education, and agriculture compared to poor migrant households. To address this, the government should focus on creating more job opportunities in rural areas to prevent young adults from migrating to urban areas.
