Large Boards Boost Firm Performance in Bangladesh, Independence and Gender Diversity Lag
The study looked at how the makeup of company boards affects the performance of manufacturing firms in Bangladesh. They found that having a larger board size can improve firm performance. However, having independent directors or female directors on the board did not show a significant impact on performance. The researchers suggest that corporate governance rules, especially regarding independent and female directors, should be adjusted to better fit the cultural and institutional context of Bangladesh.
