Seasonal changes turn urban river from clean to polluted hotspot
Seasonal changes in Malaysia affect water quality in the Penchala River, with pollution sources causing environmental stress. The study monitored four river stations from 2013 to 2014, finding differences in water quality parameters between stations. The water quality index classified the river as clean upstream, slightly polluted in the middle, and polluted downstream. Heavy metals like Arsenic, Iron, and Aluminium exceeded limits, with better values during the wet season. A river model was developed, showing good agreement for flow and water quality at certain locations.
